You are missed. / Eric Farrell (High School Friends)

I know that you are in Heaven looking down on us.  You are a great friend, someone who was easy to get along with.  I am glad that we were able to share retreats together so that I could gian a lifelong friendship with the most genuine person I have known.  The world is worse off without you, but Heaven is a better place.
The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.  He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.  He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.  Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.  Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever. (Psalm 23)

Dave,
You were such an amazing person.  You had a heart bigger than anyone I have ever known and you would do anything for anyone at anytime.  Your smile made everyone's day seem a little bit better when they came into contact with you.  You could make anyone laugh with your goofy smile and remarkable personality!  You will be missed tremendously and will ALWAYS be missed.  You lived your life to the fullest and you were truly an inspiration to me.  I will always remember and cherish everything you did for other people.  You will be missed and loved by everyone who had the wonderful opportunity to come into contact with you at some point in your life.
   Miss you!

Dave,

I sat today and listened to our PATS retreat CD. I was touched by the memories of you and the great times we had and the lyrics that we conpared our lives to. Never will I be able to forget your enthusiasm for our God and I am certain that you are with Him right now watching over me!  You will ALWAYS be in my heart, smiling and reminding me to make sure I tell those I love, that I love them and to live each day to the fullest. You most certainly will be missed, my friend.

Condolences from Dr. Jane / Jane Goodall PhD, DBE (Founder, the Jane Goodall Institute)

I just read of David's tragic death. So young and so bright, a life of service already, and so much promise for the years ahead.

It makes us wonder why? Useless we rail why, why, why?  And we cannot find an answer. I am deeply, deeply sad.

We can only grieve, and turn the grieving into a determined effort to carry on David's shining light in our own lives and works. It must not have been in vain.

I send my condolences, my prayers to David's family for courage and strength to get through this terrible time of grief.

 With my love, Dr. Jane

Prayers and Thoughts / Lisa Gale ("bus buddy")
Many years ago (though it seems like just a few), I took joy in taking a sweet little kindergartener by the hand each afternoon and leading him safely to the bus.  Now I pray that you will take all those who remain here missing you by the hand and lead them safely through this time of grief - and someday safely into your place of joy with God.

David, thank you for becoming such a wonderful young man.  You have left quite a legacy behind you.

Dave, Kristi and family, thank you for sharing David with the world.  Though we cannot even imagine the depth of pain you have been experiencing in these losses, please know we are all here to help hold you up.  Close

You taught me so much in life and whenever I needed you, you were there. Your smile was the first thing I saw at work then you would stick your tongue out. I will never forget spicy salsa and walks on the beach, hot chocolate and The Polar Express, long nights talking and laughing. Remember singing in church and Mario golf! Haha! You were the kindest most gentle mannered young man I have ever met. You have  made me such a better and stronger person and I love you for that. You meant the world to me. I hope you stay with me always. You will remain in my mind and more importantly in my heart. I know we will meet again in heaven. You will always be my cookie monster. You'll forever be my bestest best friend. Choo Choo!! Close

I never really knew dave all that well. He was three years older then me, so we were never in school together or anything like that. The cool thing about david was that when i thought back over all my memories of him, he was always smiling. I can remember countless times when i'd be feeling down and just the site of his bright and smiling face would cheer me up immensly. I'll never forget him, and both he and his family will be in my prayers. My only wish is that I had used my time more wisely and gotten to know him more. Close

David was my first friend at MiraCosta- David and Frank which one day i declared one person- "Fravid" were my boys and we were together all the time when we started MiraCosta and everyone knew it.  You helped me emotionally and i helped you deal with missing your Ohio which was reeeal hard but we had soooo much fun here and your California experience was awesome- not only for you but for me too cause i got to know you so well.  Falling asleep on the couch was the best haha cuz it happened so many times at like 12 watching some movie or just flipping channels but never failed i'd get awakened by a large pillow in my face which i didnt particularly love but it was kinda comforting and really fun for David.

Dave we had soooo much fun, of course at the retreat - look at this pinecone!!!  its huuuuge!!!, the cb high football game with my boys, the beach afterward and sitting on the lifeguard tower together at 11 at night, rolling limes around in the kitchen, trying to get frank to eat the oreo with toothpaste in it, falling asleep on the couch aaaalll the time til you woke me up with a huge pillow- it was just routine, pillow fight on the couch, vinaka's doing jumping jacks and shouting things about monkeys for the whole cafe to hear, you always won at that game, being all sad when u were gonna leave to ohio for a couple weeks- u came over that night and it was one of the most memorable nights cause we exchanged christmas presents in my room and were on my bed talking about everything and when you left i was all sad but you called me every other day that you were there haha telling me about the ticket you got lol and your family, getting in trouble at the auction for playing around too much and poking u with the pen and then getting our picture in the newspaper, theres a map inside the bag, there's a map inside the bag, we were in tears laughing that night, getting in trouble during meetings - david keep ur hands to yourself lol, coming into my work to visit me on weekends, throwing the football that hurt my hands outside ur house, blockbuster in pajamas just u and me, the park after Vinaka's on the swings- this park is haunted!!, our la jolla trip playing tag inside the car in the way back, hiding the football from u guys, lets go on the swings!!!! park frank!!, coming over to ur house and looking at all your pictures of back home and ur ohio book, dancing at miracosta and winning a cd together, dawn's house for parties- oh geez haha, good times at dawn's- soberbuddies we always brought the gatorade haha put the gatorade in the shaker!!  helping me out on campus tours cuz i was scared, going to the movies a couple weeks ago and laughing/joking through the whole thing
I will always be your Kylita and you will always be my David #1!!!
i love you so much and am so grateful for having you in my life.  if all works out right i am going to UCSD too and we will pursue our future there and make cookies after class haha.  i love you and u will be missed by everyone.

David and I had some good times as I look back over years passed. One of the best of course as Sean mentioned was the time we decided to rearange lawn ornaments....Some of my favorite memories though, were when I went to visit David in Cali. He always had bragged about how great it was and if I could come out that we would have a great time, and he was right. We did everything possible from Chinatown in LA to Tijuana in Mexico. I also got to meet his Grandparents who I must add were two of the nicest people I have ever met! He definitely had a very positive impact on my life and I will never forget you Dave! Close

I met David this past summer; he is one of the reasons Costa Rica was so amazing.  David was wise beyond his years and he cared deeply about every single person he met.  He was an angel in life and is and angel now.  You don't find people like David every day.  I'll miss him.

David was a friend of mine, even though he was 3000 miles away.  From the shores of Costa Rica is where I met David Jennings, we got along so well because, well, we looked about the same age.  From there on we hit it off.... such a great person, so fun to be around, and he always listened to what anyone had to say.  We're gonna miss you buddy.

David touched me so much in the less than a year I knew him. He was so wise, and  I learned so much from him about life. I never knew, and probably never will know a gentler man. David was an old soul, but it hurts me so deeply to know I can never talk to him again. God rest his perfect  soul. Close

Me and David grew up together in and outside of church. When I first moved out here and started going to QAC David was one of the first people to become a friend, and we defenitely made it last. I can still remember going over to his house and staying the night, one time especially, we were joking around and throwing one of the dog toys around and he threw it and hit me in the forhead with it, leaving a huge gooseegg for about the next week. I also remember having the youth group lock-ins and just hanging out at peoples houses and goofing off. When he moved out to California it was tough cause he was such a good friend, and when he came back over break me and Tim Berridge decided to go have some "fun" so we went around to peoples houses and messed with the lawn ornaments, mainly reindeer, that they had in their front yards. These are the times that I will never forget about you man, you will live in my heart FOREVER and I Love You!!!! I know youre in a better place, just dont give em too many probloms!! Close

Memories / Katie Hamilton (Friend)
David has been a part of my life for as long as I remember.  David and I grew to be very good friends. I enjoyed hanging out on the weekends, and sitting together in church. My favorite memories of David occured at our youth retreats. David and I would leg wrestle, and he would be embarassed because I would beat him. Everyone would play football and volleyball, and take the boats out on the water. During these times away on retreat, we all became family.
Junior year of high school, David and I went to my junior prom. We had a blast. I remember the last dance, was Enrique's "Hero" and David sang along in Spanish. I will always love you David, and will keep the memories I have of you close to my heart. Close
