Best Big Brother ever / Erika Jennings (little sister)
David was the best big brother I think anyone could ever have. When you were down he would always be there to cheer you up with his goofy smile and just him. He was the nicest person I have ever met because when nobody else would take me to the mall or just somewhere like a friends house he always would. Even if he had a friend over he still would. He also would do other things with me like play games, or even teach me how to throw a football. I usually can get a pretty good sprial but he still needed to teach me how to catch because that is the one thing that I can't do. I will miss him forever and always but I also know that he is always with me. When ever I need to talk to him I can just talk to one of his friends who I love sooo much because they were such good friends to him. I love you for always and ever ever ever. Close

David, I have a lot of memories about you. You always made me laugh when you made jokes. You were like a  brother to me. At Erica's birhtday party one year you pulled a prank on Erica and all of her friends(I was one of those friends) and you scared us with a mask. It was you and your dad. I will never forget that. You will never be forgoten. I will always remember you. You will always be in my heart!! Luv ya!! Close

So many good memories. So many good conversations. Sean and Tim mentioned my final memory of David with the christmas lawn ornament reorganization - hahaha.

Here's a memory from long ago... in 6th grade, David and I went to Valley Elementary and in the winter, our class went to Glen Helen for a week. David, myself, and Chris Brinson were among the shortest members of our class so we decided to form a gang called "The Midgets" with two-handed index and middle finger "M" sign. Yeah, so we'd randomly "attack" the taller folks. Fun times...

But there's lots of great memories with David. He will definitely be missed. We must remember that we cannot have life without death. And I am very glad that David was in my life and I will always consider him a good friend.

Not The Same Without Dave (Good Version) / Tony Holtvoigt (Best Friend)

What's up Dave?  It's about 3 AM on February 26th, 2005, the very same day of your vigil.  Just wanted to let you know that all of the members of the Deutsche Crew came together on your behalf.  Me along with Pat Fleck, Andy, Tom, Pat O'Bryan, Brandon, Josh, and Chuck.  Now I find it painful to see that all of us were together last night due to loss of one of our best friends, YOU!  Another thing that hurt me even more, was when I looked up and down both sides of our table at Hooters, looking among the familiar faces, but not seeing yours.  I miss you buddy!  We spoke of all the fun memories with you, and you know they were ridiculus.  We all agreed you are a downright crazy man.  You lived your life like there was no tomorrow and got the best out of everything you did.  I know that me and the rest of the guys have learned a lot from you.  First of all, I'm going to live my life to its fullest potential and never take anything for granted.  Secondly, losing you has brought our group even closer together.  Good friends are indispensible and I would never give up any of you guys.  More importantly, I know your strength will guide us through the hardest times in our lives.  Okay!  I have to get some sleep so I can see you at 1 PM.  I'm sorry we couldn't call you up to come out with us to Hooters and Laser Quest.  You truly made moments like these memorable!  Thank you for being my best friend.  I love you bro!

David was a really good friend to me. We were in band three years together and he always made it interesting. I remember one time I was really sick and he came over with another friend to see me and make me feel better.  David always talked about going to school in California and becoming a surgeon. I am happy he got the opportunity to pursue his dreams. He was a loving, caring, and hard-working person who will be greatly missed. Close

Music of our soul / Keriann Hissam (school friend)
Ancient Egyptians believed that upon death they would be asked two questions and their answers would determine whether they could continue their journey in the afterlife. The first question was, "Did you bring joy?" The second was, "Did you find joy?"
--Leo Buscaglia
I know, just what you wanted.  A pop quiz.
David, I know I can speak for everybody when I say that you brought joy into so many lives, touched so many hearts, and played your music that echoed into so many souls.  Daily, your smile and joyous laugh showed everybody that the second question is easy to answer as well.
You will be deeply missed, but we all know that we'll see you when we get there!

When I heard the news I didn't want to believe it, and all I could see was David like the last time I saw him, over the summer, tan from California and smiling like he always was.  Even before I got to know David towards the end of HS Ioved huge friendly smile that he seriously always was smiling.  I'm so grateful that I was able to get to know David for the awesome person that he was, and even though he was taken from us too soon, it's comforting for me to know he's in a better place, smiling over us I'm sure.

David, I will miss you greatly. You are in my heart forever. I'm so glad I was able to meet and become close friends with a guy as great as you. Even though I was a freshman, and you were a senior, you treated me as though there were no class differences. You helped me out with anything I needed your help in, and i will never forget it. You taught me everything I know today about the hurdles, and you are the one that taught me how to 3 step. I'm sorry you had to miss part of the season, but I'm glad that didn't stop you from being by my side when I went against such strong competition. You are the reason I was .03 seconds away from placing in the MML championship meet, and without you, I wouldn't have made it thta far. You pushed me so hard, and taught me so much, that you made me as good as I am today. Even though you weren't able to make it to the championships, you did your best to make sure I did. This season I'm going all the way, just for you. This season is for you! I'll miss you. And I know you're going to be by my side all the way down the track. 1, 2, 3, jump, all the way to the end. Close

I met David at MiraCosta College when he became a Student Ambassador. He had a quiet strength to him and a warm personality. I will always remember him for his smile, his class ring and his baggy shorts. aI could always count on him and he was a true leader amongst his peers. I enjoyed the time I had to know him and watch him grow as a person. Words can not adequately express my sorrow. Close

Words cannot describe... / Andy Farrell (High School friend)

Words cannot describe the sorrow and remorse that I feel for David's family. I offer my deepest and most sincere condolences to you.

I am fortunate enough to have known David for a little over five years, through high school, through retreats, and through many other avenues of life. I cannot remember one time that I saw David and he was not smiling. Everyone that knew him can be a testament to this.

One of my favorite Bible quotes: "I have fought a good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." - 2 Timothy 4:7...
If one person were to be the eptimoe of this, it is David. His faith was shown in every aspect of his life, and he truly made me cherish my faith in a greater way. Through two PATS retreats, I got to know David more and more and I would never take that away for the world. I was able to share my faith with him, grow as friends, and grow as brothers in Christ. He truly made me a better person, and I am greatful for that.

I did not expect for someone to be gone so soon, that had such a wonderful and bright future... but his future is as good as anyone else's- he is able to make sure that we all, his friends, loved ones, and family, have a bright future as well- he is our personal guardian angel- he is our personal guide- he is what we look up to, to be like- he is with us always.

David, thank you for everything and I pray that you continue to watch over me, your friends, and your family. I know and I pray that I see your smiling face someday.

Thank you for fighting the good fight, for finishing the race, and for keeping the faith- you inspire more people than you will ever know- and now we strive to inspire, just as you have... God bless and watch over us.

Sincerely-
Andy Farrell

Although David and I hadn't seen each other in quite some time, I really valued our friendship.  I have so many great memories of Breakfast club, lock-ins, and get togethers with him and all the others from QAC. My favorite memory of David was the last time that I saw him; at his going-away party before leaving for college, after everyone else had left, David, Matt Moon, and I lay outside in the grass and looked at the stars and just talked for two hours; I remember thinking how much I would miss him-and I will miss him, always.  David, although you were denied so much, yet your life has touched countless people.
